Nineteenth Christmas

by Julie Christensen

/

about

I started writing this song last December when I wasn't sure what was to become of our home and family, and whether we'd be able to weather the financial storm.

VERSE
We named it "Joyous Lake"
When we happened on this place
We would raise our son up here
We vowed to never leave
Our smiles were young and we'd grow old
Underneath the eaves
Underneath the eaves

VERSE 2
It's still his Joyous Lake
He came up in this place
He had his big adventures here
So he could rule the world
From two years young til he was grown
Time flew by like a bird
It flew by like a bird

CHORUS:
We live in what they called a "tear-down"
We've been here all of eighteen years
We moved in on Thanksgiving Day
And on our Nineteenth Christmas
The pines are leaning windward
And the rain____
Is pouring tears down
Pouring Tears Down

BRIDGE:
Something in the wind
Began to pull us in

VERSE:
We're leaving Joyous Lake
We have to leave this place
The walls have seen us wrestling
Our fears, triumphs, and pain
They rang with love we shouted out
And all that love remains
All that love remains

CHORUS:
We live in what they called a "tear-down"
We've been here all of eighteen years
We moved in on Thanksgiving Day
And on our Nineteenth Christmas
The pines are leaning windward
And the rain____
Is pouring tears down
Pouring Tears Down
